In this article, the hypothesis is put forward that GFL learners can be specifically taught language behaviour that they still have to learn themselves by means of corpora and their treatment in class. This is empirically proven using the example of the linguistic expression of empathy in dialogue and here specifically in some interviews conducted by Eva-Maria Thüne in her research project on Kindertransport (the transport of children to Great Britain during National Socialism). To this end, the argument is introduced, the concept of empathy is located linguistically, the corpus is presented and finally an initial typology of empathic language and interview behaviour is developed.

Abstract
