‘Love is the fulfillment of the law’. Towards an Interpretation of Law in Schleiermacher’s View. The hypothesis of a legal hermeneutics from Schleiermacher’s perspective stems from a reinterpretation of Paul, according to whom ‘love is the fulfillment of the law’. Indeed, while keeping distinct differentiated phenomena such as law, ethics, and religion separate, Schleiermacher’s philosophy of feeling, even in comparison with Jacobi, indicates a path toward a non-formalistic interpretation of the law. This interpretation is directed towards the spirit of justice, beyond the letter of its normative textuality. In a further comparison with the speculative paths of Marco Maria Olivetti and Bruno Romano, Schleiermacher’s hermeneutics can point to the feeling of relative, reciprocal dependence of the ‘I’ and the ‘Thou’ as the dialogical genesis of the law. The law, in its ‘infinite exigency,’ as Kierkegaard states, is realized in the infinite, ‘endless task’ of its interpretation, where the individual works for the community, finding its fulfillment in love for the other.

Abstract
The law, in its ‘infinite exigency,’ as Kierkegaard states, is realized in the infinite, ‘endless task’ of its interpretation, where the individual works for the community, finding its fulfillment in love for the other.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
