Responsabilità sugli horrea di Portus in età tardoantica: nuovi elememnti per il dibattito

The paper proposes a new reading and contextualization of two important inscriptions from the first half of the 4th century AD relating to the administration of the warehouses of Portus. The first inscription allows us to add a vir perfectissimus that the PLRE has missed and to reflect on the responsibilities and functions of the patroni mensorum in the transition between the 3rd and 4th centuries. The second inscription allows us to correct the chronology of the prefecture of the annona of Avianius Symmachus and to rethink the relationships between the praefectus annonae and the praefectus Urbi Romae in the Portuense sector.
