The article, drawing on a recent book on Italy’s North and South, re-examines territorial dualism and related public policies in national and international contexts. Current debates on regional autonomy are linked to the historical evolution of disparities and the symbolic North-South divide, raising questions about the feasibility of egalitarian citizenship and the meaning of nationhood today, as resurging regionalist pressures risk undermining the cohesion of the unitary state.

Abstract
The article, drawing on a recent book on Italy’s North and South, re-examines territorial dualism and related public policies in national and international contexts. Current debates on regional autonomy are linked to the historical evolution of disparities and the symbolic North-South divide, raising questions about the feasibility of egalitarian citizenship and the meaning of nationhood today, as resurging regionalist pressures risk undermining the cohesion of the unitary state.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
