This contribution utilizes "Le mille gru" (1998), "Le mille e una notte - Radio Tunisi" (1999), and "Attraverso" (2001) by Sabrina Mezzaqui (Bologna, 1964) as pivotal works marking a significant shift in the artist's research, which continues to be focused on multiculturalism. The three works present an opportunity to explore the procedural and formal strategies employed by Mezzaqui to incorporate narratives and techniques from non-European cultures —such as origami, Arabic music, and US post-colonial literature— into her poetic expression. It will be demonstrated how Mezzaqui's approach, rather than manifesting ethnographic or political ambitions, articulates a ‘wandering’ among diverse cultures amidst globalization, driven by a spiritual journey, curiosity, and autobiographical reflections.

Abstract
This contribution utilizes "Le mille gru" (1998), "Le mille e una notte - Radio Tunisi" (1999), and "Attraverso" (2001) by Sabrina Mezzaqui (Bologna, 1964) as pivotal works marking a significant shift in the artist's research, which continues to be focused on multiculturalism. The three works present an opportunity to explore the procedural and formal strategies employed by Mezzaqui to incorporate narratives and techniques from non-European cultures —such as origami, Arabic music, and US post-colonial literature— into her poetic expression. It will be demonstrated how Mezzaqui's approach, rather than manifesting ethnographic or political ambitions, articulates a ‘wandering’ among diverse cultures amidst globalization, driven by a spiritual journey, curiosity, and autobiographical reflections.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
