Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have emerged as a promising technology for enhancing MIMO radar and integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems. This paper investigates the integration of a near-field RIS with a MIMO radar to improve target detection while addressing the challenge of antenna selection for large transmit (TX) and receive (RX) arrays with limited RF chains. An optimal, computationally efficient solution is proposed to maximize the target SNR, enabling adaptive real-time implementation.

Abstract
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have emerged as a promising technology for enhancing MIMO radar and integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems. This paper investigates the integration of a near-field RIS with a MIMO radar to improve target detection while addressing the challenge of antenna selection for large transmit (TX) and receive (RX) arrays with limited RF chains. An optimal, computationally efficient solution is proposed to maximize the target SNR, enabling adaptive real-time implementation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
