The Sapienza University of Rome's surveys of the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf (MASPAG), particularly in the vast governorate of Ǧanūb al-Bāṭina (south-west of the capital Muscat), have identified a landscape shaped by human activity over thousands of years.

Abstract
The Sapienza University of Rome's surveys of the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf (MASPAG), particularly in the vast governorate of Ǧanūb al-Bāṭina (south-west of the capital Muscat), have identified a landscape shaped by human activity over thousands of years. The discovery was made in a vast alluvial plain in the province of Wādī Al Ma awil between the rocky slopes of Jebel Akhḍar (western chain of the Al-Ḥajar mountains) and the Indian Ocean. In this area facing the Gulf of Oman, crossed by the Tropic of Cancer and almost protected by an arc-shaped mountain range with peaks of three thousand metres, an ancient settlement and two enormous necropolises are now the subject of systematic investigation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
