Identità, politica e valori nell'Unione europea

The debate on European identity focuses on the tension between cultural diversity and the search for common ground. From mythology to EU institutions, efforts have aimed to build a collective identity to legitimize political integration. However, the lack of a unified heritage and the instrumental use of values reveal the limits of this project. Europe thus emerges as an evolving identity, rooted more in dialogue among differences than in a fixed origin. This paper explores the theoretical and institutional evolution of European identity, highlighting its complex relationship with nationalism, cosmopolitanism, and the construction of collective identities.
