Abstract
Based on ethnographic research among artisanal fishermen in the Comoros Islands, this article explores the material encounter with the ocean, reconstructing the everyday life of fishing. It examines how experiences at sea shape interdependencies, technical skills, and ecological knowledge, influencing the community’s temporalities, social rhythms, and economic expec- tations. Knowledges, practices, techniques are the vectors of a profound interdependence with the oceanic dimension; resources to cope with precarious conditions of existence; tools to come to terms with and escape from social constraints; as well as imaginative and practical tanks able to renegotiate spaces of movement and social legitimation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
