Alcuni percorsi di critica dantesca cinese nel XXI secolo

In 2015, the Chinese medievalist scholar, Jiang Yuebin (姜岳斌) published an essay, «Rethinking a Hundred Years of Dante in China» (Danding zai Zhongguo de bainian huigu 但丁在中国的百年回顾), in which he expressed severe criticism toward academic peers - medievalists, comparatists, and Italianists – arguing that they were unable to offer new and original interpretations or to engage in critical and scholarly dialogue with foreign colleagues, due to years of academic and cultural isolation. The numerous initiatives that marked the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death — in particular, the Danding shishi 700 zhounian jinian zhi “Shenqu” xilie jiangzuo (但丁逝世700周年纪念之“神曲”系列讲座), a Lectura Dantisseries on the Divine Comedy organized by Zhejiang University between March and June 2021, represent a response to Professor Jiang’s concerns. This paper analyzes the new orientations in Chinese Dante studies that emerged from the Lectura Dantis series.
