The article discusses Leonardo Bruni's rendering of lines 53-56 from the pseudo-Theocritean Idyll VIII into Latin hexameters, preserved in epistle VII.7 of the Bernard-Pradelle edition. The first section outlines the content of the epistle and compares the Greek source with the Latin version; the second lists the Theocritean manuscripts accessible to Bruni and analyzes three other humanist translations of Idyll VIII, used as points of comparison to highlight Bruni's distinctive stylistic and translational approach.
