This article traces a history of images—from photography to replay— understood as fractures in time. At the intersection of formal analysis and sociological inquiry, it examines: a) the relationship between images, shock, and mnemonic recomposition; b) the disjunctions that arise in the reception process between dreams and reality; c) the forms of pleasure and the sublime; d) the connections between images, everyday life, and narcotization; and e) the overlaps between images, advertising, and identity.
