The author proposes a new reflection on the diffusion of the cult of Liber Pater in the Danubian provinces, and in particular on the origin of the cult — whether indigenous or imported, and in this case whether from Italy, through soldiers or colonists, or from Asia Minor, given the presence in Thrace of Greek inscriptions mentioning the names of followers of Bacchic circles. This reflection arises from the publication of a new Latin dedication to Liber Pater from the Roman province of Thrace, now preserved in the museum of Tekirdağ (Turkey), offered by L. Domitius Gamus and datable to the course of the 2nd century AD.

Abstract
The author proposes a new reflection on the diffusion of the cult of Liber Pater in the Danubian provinces, and in particular on the origin of the cult — whether indigenous or imported, and in this case whether from Italy, through soldiers or colonists, or from Asia Minor, given the presence in Thrace of Greek inscriptions mentioning the names of followers of Bacchic circles. This reflection arises from the publication of a new Latin dedication to Liber Pater from the Roman province of Thrace, now preserved in the museum of Tekirdağ (Turkey), offered by L. Domitius Gamus and datable to the course of the 2nd century AD.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
