The Adriatic and Ionian Seas form an important maritime corridor for European transport and act as a natural bridge between the major container traffic flows in the Mediterranean and the European continent. As container throughput continues to grow, the urgency to develop a modern, efficient and sustainable port infrastructure in this area has increased significantly. This strategically favorable geographical location has increased the attractiveness of the region for global shipping and logistics companies looking to reduce transit times and transport costs. Furthermore, in the face of growing geopolitical tensions and environmental challenges, the Adriatic-Ionian region is increasingly recognized as a resilient alternative in global supply chains. The ports in the Adriatic-Ionian basin thus serve not only as critical access points to European markets, but also as fundamental elements for improving the continent’s logistical sovereignty and climate resilience. It is therefore important that ports are developed quickly and in line with environmental requirements.

Abstract
It is therefore important that ports are developed quickly and in line with environmental requirements.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
