Within the contemporary city, public space is shaped as an open and flexible environment, increasingly connected to a culture of leisure that prioritizes psycho-physical well-being. This approach is based on a vision of the city where all its constitutive elements, whether artificial or natural, contribute to the definition of integrated programs and planning strategies. These strategies aim to promote a model of a healthy city, where the concept of health is based both on the practice of physical activity and on the building of meaningful social relationships. What emerges from the Physical Activity Strategy for the European Region of the World Health Organization is precisely a concept of the city that places public spaces at the foundation of its physical constitution, making them as accessible and usable as possible by all members of society. To achieve this goal, sport and sports infrastructure are key players in the creation of an inclusive city.
