At the end of the XIX c., the project of the military hospital in Rome was based on the need to provide a sanatorium to the armed forces of the Italian State; it involved many issues, political, economic, defense, hygiene, medicine, urban planning. During the second World War, ceremonies and shows were taking place in the courtyard, documented by numerous photographs and films, conserved in LUCE archive. The contribution aims at investigating a lesser-known facet regarding hospital architectures.
