This paper aims to shed light on the possible role that local communities can take on in the construction and enhancement of polysemous concepts of memory and identity and in the conveyance of development processes, in Italian inner areas. Can we really speak of an authentic, original and unchangeable heritage in which the identity and the historical memory of an area is enshrined? This is one of the question on which the contribution aims to reflect, proposing an activity of co-production of a community-map, with the aim of retrieving a collective memory and strengthening social cohesion.
