Greek transport amphorae are often overlooked within Phoenician-Punic studies where Greek Fine Ware is widely used as a marker in order to analyse the relationship between Greeks and Phoenician-Punic people. The aim of this paper is restore Greek Transport Amphorae to the right attention by using Aegean amphorae discovered at Motya as case study. A diachronic perspective gives the opportunity to outline the evolution of the relationship between Motya and the Aegean partners in order to frame Motya not only in the Mediterranean but also in Aegean routes. At the same time the study of Aegean amphorae is a meaningful opportunity to assess on the value of Greek goods, especially wine and oil, in a Phoenician-Punic site.

Abstract
Greek transport amphorae are often overlooked within Phoenician-Punic studies where Greek Fine Ware is widely used as a marker in order to analyse the relationship between Greeks and Phoenician-Punic people. The aim of this paper is restore Greek Transport Amphorae to the right attention by using Aegean amphorae discovered at Motya as case study. A diachronic perspective gives the opportunity to outline the evolution of the relationship between Motya and the Aegean partners in order to frame Motya not only in the Mediterranean but also in Aegean routes. At the same time the study of Aegean amphorae is a meaningful opportunity to assess on the value of Greek goods, especially wine and oil, in a Phoenician-Punic site.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
