Paediatric adrenal disorders can strongly interfere with linear growth, causing its acceleration or retardation. Growth abnor- malities may originate from the direct effects that glucocorticoids and sex steroids display on growth plate, or be mediated by indirect mechanisms, such as the interaction between adrenal hormones and the growth hormone/IGF-1 axis. There- fore, early diagnosis and prompt treatment of adrenal disorders in paediatric age can prevent or minimise growth-related disorders.
