The paper shows the studies in the ambit of a space project that employs multisource data and artificial intelligence techniques for the extraction of results of interest for the monitoring of the railway infrastructure. The project consists of different steps from the designing phase to the operational one for the implementation of a webGIS platform that, merging the data deriving from distributed in-situ sensors, earth observation satellites and drones, can offer analysis and results of interest for the management of the railway infrastructure. As of now, the main results are reported for the identification of the requirements for the project, the consolidation of the architecture for the overall system (with a focus on the subsystems involved in the operations), the preliminary studies of the artificial intelligence techniques useful for the analysis of data to be used and of data fusion techniques to implement the webGIS platform, which is the final deliverable for the users of the project.
