The essay reconstructs the history of the removal of the dedication of Giuseppe Ungaretti’s Popolo to Benito Mussolini, retracing the phases of the po- et’s long loyalty to the Duce and showing the reasons why literary historiography has generally downplayed Ungaretti’s link with the Fascist regime.
Il saggio ricostruisce la storia della rimozione della dedica di Popolo di Giuseppe Ungaretti a Benito Mussolini ripercorrendo le fasi della lunga fedeltà del poeta al Duce e mostrando le ragioni per le quali la storiografia letteraria ha generalmente ridimensionato il legame di Ungaretti con il regime fascista.
