The article focuses on the preservation and enhancement of the historic city, the enhancement of the city accessible to all (or inclusive city), and urban planning tools aimed at coordinating strategies and actions on public space. Through the case study of Tarquinia (VT) authors deal with preserving identity features of the public space, re-discussing the relationship among urban planning, sectorial plans and urban design.
