Korostovec is mentioned, at least by topical experts in this field, as one of the most brilliant and important Russian diplomats in the early 20th century, particularly for the role played in the Far East for the Russian Empire's foreign policy. He is an historical and in theory unknown character for the general Italian audience, and on the grounds of his daughter's memoirs, freely translated by his editor, it has been not only possible to offer to the Italian public a pleasant and at times poetic reading about the life of a lady who belonged to another era, spent at her father's side, always travelling through the world but also a picture of every days life of the Russians aristocratic ruling class.
