This paper is a review of a work by Prof. Dr. Tortorelli Ghidini, which may be regarded as a summa of current knowledge on Orphism. In this context, I assess Tortorelli Ghidini’s effort to situate Orphism within a broader cultural framework, particularly through comparison with other Mediterranean traditions, most notably that of Pharaonic Egypt.
