Gli studi di Jean-François Champollion sul persiano

The article offers a description of the material gathered in ms. “Francesco Salvolini, Opere, ms. 65A, Cartella Persiano” of the Biblioteca Comunale Manfrediana in Faenza, mainly in Jean-François Champollion’s own hand. The papers (scattered folios and bifolios) in the first fascicle contain a series of notes related to the study of the Persian language and literature by Champollion, during his first year as a student at the École spéciale des langues orientales vivantes in Paris (1807-1808). The papers in the second fascicle offer a series of tables, likewise attributable to Champollion, attesting to his interests for the chronology of the Middle Eastern dynasties of the ancient and Islamic periods.
