There is a growing interest among scholars in how sociality and geology are intertwined. Recent narratives about the Anthropocene have played a key role in highlighting this nexus. To some, a geological turn has taken shape since many have realised that not only do the geological forces of the Earth shape human beings’ societies, but humans have become a geological force themselves capable of transforming and leaving traces of their presence permanently. This transforming anthropogenetic force is often associated with large-scale extractive activities that damage the planet and put into question the possibility of establishing non-exploitative relationships with humans and non-humans. "A Ritual geology" by Robyn d’Avignon can be seen as a contribution to this macro debate.
