The Russo-Ukrainian War has had very profound implications on world politics and trade, especially for those countries that, due to their geographical, ideological, or political position, have decided or had to take clear positions. In line with their decades-long relations, Cuba has held a position generally aligned in favour of Russia, while the neighbouring United States is in favour of Ukraine, leading the regional situation in Central and North America to develop on these two fronts. In this directive, Mexico and Canada, historical American allies, show that, despite their support for the Ukrainian cause, the international political and commercial line seems to distance us considerably from the United States with regard to Russian allies in Central America, such as Cuba. Not only that. While Canada shows continuity in political and commercial relations, Mexico seems to gradually distance itself from the alliance with the United States, not only maintaining and improving relations with Cuba but perceiving the historical and ideological alliance with the island as a political counterweight to the US’s role in the area.

Abstract
While Canada shows continuity in political and commercial relations, Mexico seems to gradually distance itself from the alliance with the United States, not only maintaining and improving relations with Cuba but perceiving the historical and ideological alliance with the island as a political counterweight to the US’s role in the area.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
