This contribution aims to analyse the use of legacy data, extracted from bibliographic sources to study and represent, through graphic-spatial tools, the distribution of archaeological finds in the Middle Valdarno. Through exploratory spatial analyses conducted with QGIS and R, and organised by chronological phases, it has been possible to identify a strongly clustered settlement pattern, spanning from the Iron Age to the late Hellenistic period. In particular, the analyses conducted using Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), Point Pattern Analysis (PPA), and Nearest Neighbour Index (NNI) have highlighted significant variations in the areas of settlement concentration: in the earlier periods, finds are distributed in clusters in areas of higher altitude, while in later periods, a shift towards lower elevations is observed, accompanied by increasing spatial dispersion.

Abstract
This contribution aims to analyse the use of legacy data, extracted from bibliographic sources to study and represent, through graphic-spatial tools, the distribution of archaeological finds in the Middle Valdarno. Through exploratory spatial analyses conducted with QGIS and R, and organised by chronological phases, it has been possible to identify a strongly clustered settlement pattern, spanning from the Iron Age to the late Hellenistic period. In particular, the analyses conducted using Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), Point Pattern Analysis (PPA), and Nearest Neighbour Index (NNI) have highlighted significant variations in the areas of settlement concentration: in the earlier periods, finds are distributed in clusters in areas of higher altitude, while in later periods, a shift towards lower elevations is observed, accompanied by increasing spatial dispersion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
