The aim of this work is to present one of the topics of my doctoral research, the general purpose of which is studying conservation interventions on outdoor contemporary mural paintings. In particular, this contribution is about the use of the model Art-Risk 1 for the evaluation of the state of conservation of these type of artworks in Arcumeggia (Varese Province), a Painted Village in Italy. Painted Villages provide an interesting scenario for studying outdoor contemporary mural paintings as they usually contain a large number of murals in very small territorial areas. Some mural paintings have been selected to apply the model Art-Risk 11. Through the analysis, made in two different ways of degradation forms, it has been possible to verify the reliability of the model. The hope is that this model will allow to better understand the importance of preventive conservation and that it will be used also by municipalities for an ongoing monitoring of the artworks.
