Clinicians have long recognized the bidirectional interaction existing between the heart and brain, yet the dialogue between cardiologists and neurologists is still limited. Although huge efforts have been made to dissect the pathophysiological bases of brain pathology ensuing from the exposure to cardiovascular risk factors, cerebrovascular diseases still represent a main cause of morbidity and mortality. On the other hand, the brain is one of the main regulators of cardiovascular function, both directly and indirectly, making it clear that a dysfunctional neural control of the cardiovascular system might underlie diseases’ development. This Spotlight Issue aims to explore these complex mechanisms, offering valuable insights for specialists in cardio- and neurovascular research and practice, while presenting new concepts and groundbreaking diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
This Spotlight Issue aims to explore these complex mechanisms, offering valuable insights for specialists in cardio- and neurovascular research and practice, while presenting new concepts and groundbreaking diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
