Our experience in optical cylinder preservation in osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (OOKP)

Dear Editor, We read with interest the recent article titled “Use of a silicone shield to protect the optical cylinder following osteo- and osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (O/OKP) procedures” by Goren et al. As the authors claim, their article is among the few that focus on abrasions of the optical cylinder and their effects on visual acuity. In this regard, the use of a silicone shield could represent a noteworthy strategy for preventing damage to the optical cylinder surface.
