The Palazzo della Ragione, designed by architect Marcello Piacentini and built in Ferrara between 1955 and 1957 in place of the fourteenth century building which was once the seat of the ducal court, on the ancient Piazza delle Erbe. In the immediate post-war period, Piacentini's monumentalist intervention was placed overwhelmingly in the heart of the city historic center, strongly affected by material destruction and social disruption.
