This paper presents a general fault-tolerant control strategy for multiphase induction motor drives that ensures continued operation under fault conditions affecting either the power converter or the machine itself. The proposed approach dynamically reconfigures the stator currents and voltage references of the motor using a modified indirect rotor field-oriented control, thereby maintaining adequate motor operation even in the presence of multiple open-phase faults. The proposed strategy is validated through simulations in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and the results demonstrate effective post-fault operation, showing current redistribution and necessary torque derating, especially in double-phase fault scenarios.

Abstract
This paper presents a general fault-tolerant control strategy for multiphase induction motor drives that ensures continued operation under fault conditions affecting either the power converter or the machine itself. The proposed approach dynamically reconfigures the stator currents and voltage references of the motor using a modified indirect rotor field-oriented control, thereby maintaining adequate motor operation even in the presence of multiple open-phase faults. The proposed strategy is validated through simulations in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and the results demonstrate effective post-fault operation, showing current redistribution and necessary torque derating, especially in double-phase fault scenarios.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
