The long stay of young women with the family: the role of social services

This study investigates the phenomenon of young women living with their parents well beyond early adulthood. It focuses on the social and emotional implications of prolonged cohabitation, including emotional dependence, social exclusion, and psychological distress. The research specifically examines how social services in the administrative areas of Rome address this issue. Key questions include: how effectively does the social services network respond to this situation? And what types of interventions are provided when these cases are identified? The study begins with a review of the scientific literature on young adults’ prolonged stay in the parental home, followed by a mapping of social services in Rome to assess the coverage and support available for affected families and individuals.
