The essay explores the relationship between economic development and sustainability by exploring the contribution of renewable energy to the green transition. To this end it illustrates the evolution of EU policies in the field (in particular the REPowerEU plan) and the following Regulation and focuses on the difficult implementation of these policies due to the complex bureaucratic procedures provided for the authorisation of new plants.
