In 2013, the EU introduced TEN-T corridors for an integrated and sustainable transport network. The work analysed falls within the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor, which connects northern and southern Europe. The adaptation of the existing lines concerns the axial weight and the limit gauge of the freight wagons for combined transport, identifying interference due to civil works, permanent way, electrical traction and signalling. The use of BIM technology optimises surveys and design, ensuring an efficient and integrated approach to infrastructure modernisation.
