This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of dermoscopy-guided high-frequency ultrasound (DG-HFUS) for preoperative lateral margin assessment in basal cell carcinoma. DG-HFUS achieved 94.4% sensitivity and 93% specificity for detecting tumour presence within 2 mm of the margin, with strong correlation to histopathology. The results suggest that DG-HFUS is a promising noninvasive tool for surgical planning, especially where Mohs surgery is not available.

Abstract
This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of dermoscopy-guided high-frequency ultrasound (DG-HFUS) for preoperative lateral margin assessment in basal cell carcinoma. DG-HFUS achieved 94.4% sensitivity and 93% specificity for detecting tumour presence within 2 mm of the margin, with strong correlation to histopathology. The results suggest that DG-HFUS is a promising noninvasive tool for surgical planning, especially where Mohs surgery is not available.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
