Какие тайны хранят кладбища Ивановки и Хильмилли? (Kakie tajny chranjat kladbišča Ivanovki i Chil'milli? What secrets are hidden in the cemeteries of Ivanovka and Khilmilli?)

Abstract. In this article, we analyze the inscriptions on headstones located in Molokan cemeteries in Ivanovka and Khilmilli villages (Azerbaijan). Our research was conducted during fieldwork in January and February of 2023, where we documented these captions. The analysis examines the structural and linguistic features of the texts carved on stone steles, as well as the mistakes made when writing them. Grouping headstone inscriptions by their creation time reveals common characteristics, such as shared graphic and orthographic features. This diachronic approach helps us to track changes in the inscriptions found in these two villages, and understand how they were influenced by social and linguistic-cultural events.
