The coastal site of Torre Castelluccia in Apulia (Pulsano, TA) stands out as a rare case in Italian protohistory of an archaeological site where both dwelling areas and adjoining burials are known (i.e., grotticella-type tombs and a cremation cemetery). The recent re-examination of pottery productions (over 1000 sherds) has resulted in a reliable chronological sequence spanning from the South Italian Middle Bronze Age (1700-1300 BC) to Greek colonization (around 700 BC). This paper outlines the combined approach used to examine the technical aspects of impasto pottery. The opportunity to cross-reference data from both settlement and necropolis increased the worth of the analysis, providing new insight into the social organization of pottery production and the biography of pots.

Abstract
The opportunity to cross-reference data from both settlement and necropolis increased the worth of the analysis, providing new insight into the social organization of pottery production and the biography of pots.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
