Stabulă. Tre esempi di strutture d’allevamento a Cencelle (XIII-XV sec.)

As part of the archaeological investigations conducted along the western sector of Cencelle, three stables were uncovered within the intramural fabric of the civitas. Starting from the archaeological analysis of the stratigraphic context and the urban transformations of the forma urbis recorded between the 13th and 15th centuries, the research focused on identifying the defining features of the three stable structures. By integrating excavation data with documentary sources and osteometric measurements—also supported by 3D reconstructions—an attempt was made to offer an interdisciplinary interpretation of the Cencelle context, framed within a broader reflection on the evolution of animal husbandry systems in the late Middle Ages

Nell’ambito delle indagini archeologiche condotte lungo la fascia occidentale dell'abitato di Cencelle, sono emerse tre stalle inserite nel tessuto abitativo intramurario della civitas. A partire dall’analisi archeologica del contesto stratigrafico e delle trasformazioni urbanistiche della forma urbis registrate tra il XIII e il XV secolo, la ricerca si è concentrata sulla definizione degli elementi caratterizzanti i tre ambienti stallivi. Integrando i dati di scavo con le fonti documentarie e le misurazioni osteometriche, anche grazie all’ausilio di ricostruzioni tridimensionali, si è cercato di proporre una lettura interdisciplinare del contesto cencellino, inquadrato in una più ampia riflessione sull’evoluzione dei sistemi di allevamento nel Basso Medioevo
