Abstract

This contribution considers a short philological fragment of the third century BC Alexandrian scholar Eratosthenes of Cyrene; the fragment was included in Gottfried Bernhardy’s 1822 edition of Eratosthenes but was subsequently considered spurious. My article aims at demonstrating, on the basis of new textual evidence, that the note does actually present material which belongs to Eratosthenes’ studies on language.
