Fifty years after the first attempt to introduce Sexualities Education (SE) in Italy, numerous legislative efforts have followed. Yet, Italy remains among the few European countries where SE is not part of the school curriculum. This work presents recent legislative initiatives, a historical overview, and the current context in which SE is mostly extracurricular. International recommendations emphasize the importance of including age-appropriate and scientifically accurate SE in school curricula to protect the sexual rights of all individuals. The conclusions highlight the need for a shift in perspective, a shared and conscious positioning to promote a positive SE capable of fostering well-being both for individuals and society.

The conclusions highlight the need for a shift in perspective, a shared and conscious positioning to promote a positive SE capable of fostering well-being both for individuals and society.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
