The interactions between Oinotrian and colonial Greek communities around the foundation of the Greek colony of Sybaris are often discussed with a special focus on the painted pottery styles. Differences in Undulating Band Style painted pottery from the near sites of Timpone della Motta (Francavilla Marittima) and Serra Castello (Corigliano- Rossano) hint at the existence of distinct Iron Age polities around the plain of Sybaris: this reflects a certain complexity in the paracolonial confrontation.

Abstract
The interactions between Oinotrian and colonial Greek communities around the foundation of the Greek colony of Sybaris are often discussed with a special focus on the painted pottery styles. Differences in Undulating Band Style painted pottery from the near sites of Timpone della Motta (Francavilla Marittima) and Serra Castello (Corigliano- Rossano) hint at the existence of distinct Iron Age polities around the plain of Sybaris: this reflects a certain complexity in the paracolonial confrontation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
