Public Space as a Dynamic of Social Construction

The urban space should be observed as a complex and variegated but also compressed reality, a space-world capable of hosting interacting individuals in a condition of co-presence, a habitat that is a container rich in meanings, private and public relations, a pulsating reality endowed with a radical symbolic- practical uniqueness. When practices, bodies and languages come together, they give rise to a common space of action, a public place of confrontation and discussion, of collective practices and conduct. Common places take the form of public spaces in which relations of cooperation and conflict are produced: they are symbolic and physical spaces in which multiple subjects practise alternative forms of life, resistance and activities to the state sphere and the market.
