The contribution analyzes a neglected work in the history of philosophy and ideas, L’impotenza del demonio (The Powerlessness of the Devil, 1753) by Clemente Baroni Cavalcabò. The treatise is contextualized in the tradition of Cartesian dualism, of the Leibnizian dynamics and of the demonology of Balthasar Bekker, but highlighting its peculiarities of text originating in the context of the «Catholic Enlightenment» and the eighteenth-century «scientific revolution»
