Since 2005 the archaeological investigations carried out by the Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma in Via delle Idrovore della Magliana (Rome) a few hun dred meters away from the Tiber, have allowed to discover a two meter high building consisting of 4 rooms, with a surface area of about 250 square meters. This building, made of splinters and irregular blocks of local tufa and clay, shows 2 phases (– between the sixth century and the beginning of the fifth century BC), due to floodings. In the external area a well, some tufa basins and a long containment wall for the water were found. The discovery of a big quantity of pottery (mainly local but also imported, such as some amphorae and black-figure vases), and waste of ceramic workmanship allow hypothesizing a prominent function of storage place along the Tiber during the Archaic period
