Le iscrizioni musive ravennati. Osservazioni e puntualizzazioni

Many of the mosaic inscriptions are known thanks to the archaeological excavations carried out in the last two centuries, but also thanks to the testimony of Agnellus, who transcribed them in the Liber Pontificalis Ecclesiae Ravennatis. The texts that have survived are of great importance because they help to reconstruct aspects of the society of Ravenna that are still unclear. Texts, words, or single letters help us to understand the changes that took place in the exarchal city, such as the inclusion of Greek letters in the inscriptions after the entry of soldiers from the East.

Molte delle iscrizioni musive sono note grazie agli scavi archeologici effettuati negli ultimi due secoli, ma anche grazie alla testimonianza di Agnello, che le trascrisse nel Liber Pontificalis Ecclesiae Ravennatis. I testi sopravvissuti sono di grande importanza perché aiutano a ricostruire aspetti della società ravennate ancora poco chiari. Testi, parole o singole lettere ci aiutano a capire i cambiamenti avvenuti nella città esarcale, come l'inserimento di lettere greche nelle iscrizioni dopo l'ingresso dei soldati dall'Oriente.
