Considerazioni morali sul pacifismo radicale nei tempi odierni. Valore della vita, libertà, generazioni

In this article, we explore moral considerations related to “radical pacifism” in the context of war. We analyze pacifism as opposition to organized armed conflict between states, excluding interpersonal conflicts or human violence in general. The topicality of the theme is underscored by the proliferation of armed conflicts and the threat of wars on a global scale, amplified by global risks such as climate change. We argue that war exacerbates existential risks, necessitating ethical reflection in favor of a radical pacifism that rejects not only the initiation of conflicts but also any form of involvement in them. Through a comparison with major ethical doctrines, we propose a set of philosophical perspectives for radical pacifism, also relating to issues of environmental ethics and intergenerational justice. The goal ultimately is not a historical or political analysis, but rather to show how, in moral terms, the case for radical pacifism has become increasingly compelling in the contemporary context.
