Microwave thermal ablation is a therapeutic technique typically used to treat solid tumours by way of a high-power electromagnetic field emitted by a microwave antenna (often referred to as the applicator). In this contribution, the possibility of using the applicator to get information from the surrounding tissue is reported. The gained information can help the development of real time monitoring systems.

Abstract

Microwave thermal ablation is a therapeutic technique typically used to treat solid tumours by way of a high-power electromagnetic field emitted by a microwave antenna (often referred to as the applicator). In this contribution, the possibility of using the applicator to get information from the surrounding tissue is reported. The gained information can help the development of real time monitoring systems.
