The city of Veii represents a privileged case in the study of the development of the Etruscan urban phenomenon. Abstract

The city of Veii represents a privileged case in the study of the development of the Etruscan urban phenomenon. The wide plateau on which the set- tlement stood is characterised by a lack of occupa- tion following the abandonment of the plateau and the subsequent use of the area, mainly for ag- ricultural purposes, has allowed the preservation of part of the remains of the urban centre. Recently, the use of multispectral remote sensing by drone for cropmark identification is making it possible to rapidly gather an exceptional amount of new information on the buried archaeological evidence referable to the ancient urban centre and to reach a further level of detail in its knowledge. The repeated remote sensing campaigns conducted as part of the research activities of the Chair of Civ- ilizations of Pre-Roman History and Etruscology at Sapienza University of Rome are accompanied by a more general reconsideration of the previous investigations to correlate various types of data through a holistic and interdisciplinary approach. The paper presents the first results, albeit still par- tial, obtained through the integration of the data produced by multispectral remote sensing with those derived from previous investigations.
